I've found my furever family!

Sweet Sammy Jo has such a heartbreaking story. She was adopted to a man just a couple years ago, and they developed an amazing bond. Unfortunately, his health deteriorated and he passed away recently. Sammy Jo stayed by his side the entire night and was with him when he left our world. 

She was devastated and confused. The family could not keep her and asked us to take her back. She would not let anyone near her, until our volunteers went and calmly talked to her and she finally let them pick her up and take her home.

Her confusion and sadness was apparent so she was given a few days to decompress and eventually life came back into her. She is integrating into the foster home, and here is what we are learning:

• she tolerates the dogs in the home, but does get protective of her human and "tells" the other dogs about it. She would probably be best as an only dog to avoid the stress of needing to protect
• she is ok with cats, as long as the cats stay to themselves, she also wants to protect her human from them as well
• she does very well in a crate and is housebroken
• she loves to cuddle with her person...all day and all night
