Our Mission

Hearts & Tails of Hope Pet Rescue was incorporated in January, 2019. We are a non-profit rescue and adoption group based in Ellis County, Texas. We do not have a shelter or building to house animals.  All of our animals are located in foster homes.

The dogs and cats we have for adoption have all been rescued from various unacceptable living conditions, whether they came from animal control facilities, or were abandoned by their owners and dumped off on streets, bridges, or gravel pits. We rescue these unfortunate dogs and cats, and provide them with housing, food, medical care, rehabilitation opportunities, and love and attention, while we work to find a loving, permanent home for them.

Hearts & Tails of Hope Pet Rescue is currently run by a small team of volunteers. We are all dedicated to rescuing animals in need, providing a safe environment for these animals, and matching the rescue animals to good families who will provide a lifetime of loving care for them.

About Hearts & Tails of Hope Pet Rescue

Rescuing Finley was the best decision we have ever made. He brought our family together. He even brought healing to our family when we least expected it. He is such a silly, goofy, big boy, that puts a smile on my face every day. He absolutely adores our daughter, and is always by her side. We are so thankful Hearts and Tails of Hope brought him to us, he makes our family complete.

Hearts and Tails of Hope made adopting a dog so easy! They set us up for success by providing supplies and staying in communication with us during our trial period. They made sure our pup was a good fit for us and we were a good fit for him.

We Adopted Brutus just a little over 2yrs ago when we moved from Oregon to Texas, and he has been such an amazing addition to our family. He really helped our daughter with the transition, and has been stuck to her side ever since!! They’re two peas in a pod. Fast forward to October 2nd, 2021..my husband and I decided to give Fostering a try. We picked up our beautiful girl Kalea…AKA..KoKo Bean. We had her for a total of 2 weeks, MAYBE 3…and we just couldn’t help it…we fell in love with her IMMEDIATELY!! Everything about her fit into our family..we decided to Adopt her too!!!!! She is now a wonderful addition to our family and we couldn’t feel more complete and in love!!! Both Brutus and KoKo have been a true blessing to your Family!! We are complete!!

My name is April Pickett, my husband and I looked to adopt a dog about a year ago after we laid our dog Dodge of 21 years to rest. We came across the dog named Tucker from a foster mom Tristen Haddad, by the way is a remarkable foster who works for Hearts and Tails of Hope Pet Rescue, our experience was great and easy we couldn’t ask for a better dog! He’s the smallest dog I’ve ever owned with the biggest heart and he works great in our pack!

Elijah (“Eli”) has been a crazy, entertaining, and rewarding addition to our family! It has been such a joy to see him grow from a scared stray with no manners, to a good boy who loves his people. If he’s next to you, he always has to have a paw on you, and when we let him, he loves to be our giant lap dog. We just love this goofy guy so much, and we can’t imagine our family without him! We are so grateful to Hearts and Tails of Hope rescue for the opportunity to give Eli a happy life and a loving home!

“My sweet Kora had a rough life until Hearts & Tails rescued her. Tristan kept her for several months, helping her gain the confidence she lacked & socializing her, in order for her adoption to be successful. They do everything to prepare the animals for their life long new family. In the meantime they’re treated as one of their own. I couldn’t be more grateful for this rescue agency!!”
